Long-term roofing – is it worth it?

Before deciding on a replacement roof, a homeowner needs to determine whether it is a worthwhile
investment. The simplest comparison of roofing options is a cost/benefit analysis based on price per square foot, installation methods (and conveniences), appearance, performance, and warranty. Be sure to check the fine print to see if the warranty is transferable to a new owner, and to confirm who is
responsible for honouring it.

Another critical factor in choosing a replacement roof is how long you intend to stay in your home. If you don’t plan to move, and never want to worry about the roof over your head, or you know that your new roof will enhance the resale value of your house by more than your upgrade costs – then you will likely be more comfortable with a higher priced, long-term replacement roof.
